My Boys

Coop's Seventh

This little boy is so much happier since able to sit up. Much easier to self-entertain and allowed to be alone for longer without screaming to be picked up. And so close to mobile! Scooting all over everywhere - not quite yet to crawling but rolling and rocking... mostly backward and side to side... not to be trusted anymore.
Eating better and better... and loving to grab the spoon on the way to the mouth and smear it. Amazing how one tiny little bite can make such a mess! Usually eating about 1.5 to 2 jars a meal. Getting a little better at the smooshy food but still able to push that semi-solid stuff right out. Taking about 4 bottles a day between meals.
Pediatrician at the 6 month (little late) check up told us night-time feedings were over. So for about a week, he kept waking up and crying for about 10 minutes - we're still getting better at just ignoring him. Well Mommy is :) Daddy usually sleeps through it unless nudged (accidentally! :) ). I tried to get up and soothe him one night when it was going on longer than usual - the bottle with water just made him madder and madder... so 30 minutes later, he ended back up in the crib crying himself to sleep. No more of those efforts!
Happy boy! Definitely a cuddler. But very happy. Like your sister, you are pretty good at just happily entertaining yourself in the morning in your crib after you wake up. Until you see one of us that is. But now that you sit, you will sit around and watch us get ready... watching everything going on. Daddy said at daycare the other day the ladies said you just sat there alone watching for about 45 mintues... They thought you were asleep :)
You have the thighs that tend to be the trend in this family... Memma said you have the "Milner knees" - thighs some of us women seem to have on that side of the family (different than Meghan) - thank me for that later.
Speaking of sleeping... You take about two naps mid AM and midafternoon for 1-2.. some weekends good up to 3 hours. Thank you for that! Night time usually starts a little after Meghan. Have your nighttime bottle and then usually do some jumping in your bouncy - loudly! There comes the point when you start rolling all over who is holding you, inconsolable... then you go down to your bed to cry yourself to sleep. Sometimes you fall asleep in our arms, but mostly, you're not so much about rocking to sleep.
Love to sit outside and watch the world. It will be so much easier though when you are up playing with Meg... Then again, that's two kids to chase...
Mommy and Daddy still made me wear hand-me-down bibs... and some shorts... nothing to school though :)
Fell asleep in the high chair... Until Meghan came by and intentionally woke him up!
"Don't cry, Bubba... I'm right here!" Meghan has decided that she is your entertainment... and Mommy and self-proclaimed babysitter... Loves to sit with you and give you/take away your toys. Sissy has recently discovered that you don't like her scary laugh. It makes you cry, and then Daddy has to tell her to stop so you'll stop. Sometimes you decide to cry along with her when she's being honery in the car... Thankfully though, you're just along for the ride. Entertaining yourself... We'll see how you do in long car rides... Might be a different story.
A true "ankle biter"
Such a sweet boy! Daddy thinks you're going to be a trouble maker and the truly honery one... For now we'll just keep loving that crooked little 4 toothed smile and the drool and wet kisses that go along with it... We love you, baby boy!

Happiest Baby on the Block

Happy Mother's Day!

So, difficulty with the photo shoot... One or the other but not both.
So happy 3rd Mother's Day to me - even got a date out of it! And a nap!
Here's to my sweet - sometimes trying - babies. My true life's work... Mommyhood is the best job ever - and thank you to all the other "mommies" who help out - grandmas, great-grandmas, aunts, daycare workers, church helpers, friends... It takes a village.... thanks to my fellow villagers - couldn't do it (so easily) without all of you.

So it really isn't Memma's birthday but go with it. You come up with a Mother's Day song, and I'll use it next year. We got to spend the weekend with Greg's mom, but we get to Memma as we can! Note the difficulty focusing, Meghan. And see my almost-crawler!

I got skills...

Remember the dumpster diving free dresser? It was solid ash-color wood. And then.. Finally got it lookin cute! And now Meghan doesn't have to have clothes all over her floor because there was no more room.

International Fest 2010

Ha! Isn't this picture hilarious. It's like the deity of the llama giving a speech with radiating lights coming from his aura... Anyways :)

We invited Nanny and Pa to go with us downtown on Saturday to the International Fest - we had never been and like to "explore Houston". Granted, we invited Lance - no show - but Meghan kept asking about him... Guilt, guilt.
We whipped out the double stroller. Coop was not enthralled, but he looked around and took it all in. Behaved very well and didn't get out of the stroller the whole time - too afraid to make him cranky.
It seems the whole premise of I-Fest was sitting around and listening to all kinds of music. We weren't such the fans of the African tribal chants but Zydeco seemed pretty fun. The group we ended up listening to was "Zydepunks". Note the above - Shelly okay just off in her own world dancing by herself :) Kent took Meg up to the front row to watch the accordians and fiddle players.
Loving the Houston downtown scene. Lots of booths to buy crafts (?)... and loud Reggae music. A little more time to dwell, but, alas, no time for those Jamaican souvenirs :)
The double stroller makes me a real mom.
Since we got suckered into buying tickets for my $4 lemonade, good thing we had enough for the petting zoo. Meg was a little hesitant but warmed up as usual. Still not as perky as the last time we went to the zoo and kind of hesitant with the llama; better with the smaller animals.

The favorite by far was the bunny. Probably the most approachable and familiar.

Did I mention that after touching all these animals, before we got to the hand sanitizer, those hands were in the mouth? No salmonella yet though!
Crazy Carribbean stilt guys - don't know any more detail than that.
Aw the cute couple.
Greg pretending to be enthused by the belly dancers who should have had on more clothing... Fun parents would have let their kids dance along but mine wasn't too into it.

Yeah, dumped that 4$ strawberry lemonade down Meg's shirt. She thought it was pretty yummy though.
Fun downtown random sculpture... tax money? Let's hope not.

Finally out of that stinky car seat - on to Mission Burrito!

My Memma, My Pop

After meeting in Brenham, Mom and Dad came down for several days. And, of course, had projects including fixing my headlight (Dad) and hanging up pictures (Mom) - which Meghan points to and calls "Memma's".
Rainy day meant playing outside. Not to be hindered by the rain- we just use the umbrella on the bike.
Good opportunity to use that umbrella.

Lots of cuddles.

And Pop even worked on his bottle skills.

Meg loves seeing Memma and Pop. I do think that seeing them in between talking online helps keep it all fresh. She frequently wants to talk to them on the computer or the phone. And my parents sure do eat it up.

We love you, Memma and Pop!
