Five Months Old, Bubba

You are growing up so quickly. Six months is halfway to a year - it's a blur... literally. Your mommy is exhausted and tends to focus on that - but how often she sits back and tries to soak it in. Tries to remember... To love your ultimate reliance on us, to be content (way too content) to cuddle, insistence on (way too often) nocturnal awakenings, wanting to play and grin up at me in the middle of the night - not wanting to sleep; I try to remember that your fussiness to be left alone is a result of how much you love us... It's a good thing, right? Sure is hard to work on your skills though when you have to be one the ground to work on scooting!
Eating better... although like your stubborn sister, want to help and don't realize you're a little young for that. Started actually opening your mouth and lunging for food. You are eating two times a day. And sleeping better because of it... slightly... you started waking up only one time a night right at the end of your fifth month. Still sleeping downstairs in the dining room. The time is coming soon though to go upstairs! Mommy just doesn't want you waking up Meg every night!
Oh, pouty. You do not like being ignored. Even if Daddy turns away from you while feeding you - you fuss until he locks eyes with you again...
You love your bouncer at home and at school. Very noisy. You have a steering wheel we put up on the bouncer that you love.
We sit you in your seat on the counter to stay content while we prepare supper. And at other times... just put little toys up on your tray. Granted, you still don't like to be ignored but at least you tolerate it a little.
You refuse to wear sleep sacks. Don't like your feet stuck.
Looking studly.
Your biggest change this month, Bubba was full-time bottle. You were fussing and throwing all out fits anytime anyone gave you a bottle. It was nice to be needed and preferred, but Mommy was tired. Not to mention, we were desperate to get you to sleep better. But now, you've gotten used to it, and accepted your first bottle ever from Momma after only several days without nursing. We made it five and a half months at least... But you are so much more easy now! Just don't get sick too often and make me regret it!
You like your puppies and want to touch them. They don't mind you at all... then again, they don't watch out for you either.
You love to be talked to. Daddy was excited the other day when your eyes locked on him when he picked you up at church in the nursery. You knew he belonged to you! Your friends at church say you are a very easy baby to watch - they probably didn't try to put you on the ground! :)
You bite and grab at everything in front of you. This has resulted in lots of slobbery "kisses".
Those socks - you pull them off and seem to be missing them more than wearing them.
For the most part a pretty easy kid. Daddy would argue. He still thinks you are pretty high maintenance. Probably are. Mommies accept it better than Daddies :) .
So loved, Bubba. Nanny and Pa are always amazed at how much you change everytime they see you - even when it's only been a week.
Eating you up and soaking you in as much as we can. Mommy just needs to work on her priorities - you win, little man!
