And the award goes too....

Moms who breastfeed!
Too much information I know but I swear, when little mommies come in to see me in clinic who are nursing and seem to enjoy it, I think I'm going to have to give them a big hug or something. There's a reason so many give up on it. Several times Greg and my mom have looked over and laughed at the noise she makes when feeding only to have me correct them that it was really a cry of pain from me!
I know it's hard not to look funny at those women who plop them out in public because we seem to think it's "inappropriate" - but instead give them a smile and encouraging word... Especially when they manage not to scream or wince in the process... They are more woman than me - still keeping on it though... I would feel guilty to tell those mommies to do it when I myself am a sissy, right? :)

Beautiful Baby

Here are more pics - too many too choose from!

Everything is going wonderfully. We came from the hospital Sunday morning after a good night of sleep thanks to nurses who watched her all night for us. Our first night at home went pretty well - couldn't ask for a better hubby who is super helpful and watches her while I can sleep! He slept quite a while this afternoon so I'm expecting payback tonight :)

Tobey trying to get used to baby - doing much better than anticipated!

With Memma - our name of the day... So far... :)
Coming home from the hospital with our silly hat on -
felt guilty that I have become one of those moms who dresses up the kid.
All of our newborn clothes are too big!

Little hands

Many more to come...

Welcome to the world Meghan!!

Introducing Meghan Elizabeth! Born January 25th, 2008 at 2:28am and weighing in at 7lb 2oz, 17 1/2 inches. Mommie and baby are both doing fine. Man alive did this go fast! We were sitting around watching Chuck on tv at 9pm when Bob decided she would call the on-call nurse to see if perhaps her water had broken. Turns out her water broke about 11:30 am Thursday morning while she was walking through Home Depot. We'd already visited the hospital once for a false alarm and she at first assumed that this was again a false alarm.

We checked into the hospital about 9:30pm on Thursday night. She started having her first strong contractions a few hours later and got the epidural around midnight-ish. After that she felt no pain the rest of the way and little Meghan came slid out at 2:28am. Me and bob were both amazed at how quickly it all happened and really there was a relatively small amount of pain. (Of course she says that now....we'll see what kind of pain she's in in a few hours when the drugs wear off).

Anyways, I'm rambling and I'm exausted (and if I'm tired I know Bobbie Jean is tired and who could blame her!!!) Time to go catch a few precious minutes of sleep while we can!

Update

Thanks for all those who keep asking... I swear that Mom and Dad seem to get calls every hour or so from people back home. Not to mention all my worrywart friends who don't seem to have anything better to do :)
Dr today did everything she could do so hopefully... seems to have worked just a question of how soon now. Hopefully by at least this time tomorrow we'll be at the hospital! If not earlier!
And if all else fails, an induction is planned for next Monday so at least something is definite...
Keep you posted!

Still Waiting...

So for those of you who got an exciting call/email on Monday saying that it would be soon... sorry to disappoint. Still waiting... Heading out to walk Walmart and eat spicy Chinese food - hopefully that will speed things along!
Keep thinking happy dilatory thoughts! :) At this point, pain would be a welcome friend....

Warning: Partial Preggo Nudity...

So this is for all you who seem to be belly obsessed... Faces have been partially removed to protect the fat! And we live in our PJs in case you're wondering. I decided our kid is going to think that's all people wear if we come home from work and strip - real clothes (and shoes) aren't worn around our house...
Mom thinks it's tacky so don't look --- I think I kinda have a cute belly. It is afterall the only time people will ever see my belly. I was thinking how it would be nice if post-baby my belly could just sink back in but maintain the same tightness and no belly rolls. Think I'm delusional though. One can always hope!

This is at almost 38 weeks - not much longer now (hopefully!).

Wahoo!

Sorry for all you who think that refers to baby news - Greg was disappointed when I yelled in his ear on the phone...
But I passed! I'm officially a PA with a C and a PA number and everything. Thanks for all your prayers and support... really couldn't have done it alone!!!

As for the other news... really starting to curse my super-competent cervix. Think she's camped out for the long haul. Doctor said last friday she might consider inducing me after 39 weeks - which I will be next Wednesday - so I guess we'll see what she says when I see her on Monday. Hopefully, little one will just decide to make us quit waiting and do it her own! Can't imagine how anxious we would be if I was humongo and miserable. Can't complain other than dang impatience... Me? Hard to believe I know!

Day of Reckoning!

So tomorrow is the big day - the 360 question, 6 hour test in which I will prove that I'm not competent to practice medicine - regardless of the score... that will still be the case! Calling it quits this afternoon and going out to eat and relax with the hubby. Tomorrow I get to put up all my books and actually do stuff that needs to be done. Just ask me if i do it :)
Prayers are appreciated mucho - for me and all my classmates!
And today marks 37 weeks - that makes us officially full term... Just one more day of waiting little girl and then you can bring it on! Keep you posted!
